Abstract

Spinal dermoid cyst is a rare cause of recurrent pyogenic meningitis, as it commonly causes aseptic meningitis. Dermal sinus tract may also be present with the cyst as in our case. Thorough physical examination with special attention to the spine should be given to find out any anatomical defect responsible for recurrent pyogenic meningitis. MRI spine will confirm the diagnosis and complete resolution of recurrent pyogenic meningitis is not possible without surgical drainage of the spinal dermoid cyst and complete excision of the dermal sinus tract.
