Abstract

Abdominal pain is a frequent symptom in Dengue Fever patients and may range from mild non-specific to severe localized pain. Rarely, these patients may present with signs of acute appendicitis which may or may not be a true depiction. We report a case of a 9-years-old boy who presented with fever for 3 days associated with vomiting and loose stools. He was diagnosed as a case of dengue fever and managed supportively. A day later, he presented with persistent vomiting, right iliac fossa pain and tenderness suggesting acute appendicitis; and underwent laparoscopic appendectomy based on clinical suspicion. Histological analysis confirmed acute appendicitis and patient had no post-operative or dengue-related complications.
